WelcomeTerry Chipp’s paintings and mixed media collages resonate with the mystery of time passed and its shifting mark on architectural structures, positioned on an enduring landscape. Chipp approaches his work as a detective, peeling back layers in pursuit of untold stories; the human presence implied in the peeling paint of a door, the newly stencilled house number or the newly replaced light fitting, suspended from an ancient crumbling ceiling. This approach implies a kind of forensic analysis of spaces, interrogating surfaces and questioning reasons for things - for the human interjections into spaces and surfaces that have remained for hundreds or thousands Many of the paintings and drawings are initially abstract in appearance but all are the result of direct observation or personal experience. |
